About

Granny Wheels started with a very practical problem.

I’m Rani, and I live in Eilat, Israel. I wanted a way to carry an inflatable paddle board to the beach on my e-bike, without using a car. I searched for a simple, safe, and practical solution — and couldn’t find anything that really worked.

So I came up with my own solution:
I carried the paddle board bag vertically, standing upright inside a crate fixed to the rear rack, with additional straps supporting it from above (fastened around my chest). It worked, but it was awkward. Parking was complicated, getting on and off the bike was inconvenient, and the whole setup felt like a workaround rather than a solution.

That’s when it became clear that the problem wasn’t the bag — it was the rack.

What I really wanted was to carry the SUP horizontally, laying flat and stable. But standard rear racks simply don’t have enough surface area for that. Expanding the usable rack space became the focus.

That’s how the Granny Wheels rack expander was born. It worked great right from the start; mounting and installation were easy, the paddle board was stable throughout the trip and did not wobble, even on bumpy roads. The ebike’s motor was strong enough to carry the weight, even through long and steep uphills.

I then realized that I can now carry on my bike not only paddle boards but all kinds of heavy and awkwardly shaped cargo. It was the right time to share it with the world.
