Compatibility Solution for Raised Edge Rear Racks

Many rear bike racks have raised side edges (curved, not flat), which can create a gap between the rack and the flat surface of the Granny Wheels rack expander. Since the height of these raised edges varies from bike to bike, we came up with a support solution that can adapt to all of them.

The Universal Spacer Pad

Each kit will now include a 7 mm thick flexible pad.

This material is:

  • Firm enough to support weight,
  • Flexible enough to fold, layer, and conform to any rack shape,
  • Durable and weather-resistant,
  • Non-slip, ensuring stable contact under the expander.

How It Solves the Problem

Because you can either cut it or fold it, the spacer can be used in multiple thicknesses:

  • One layer → 7 mm
  • Two layers → 14 mm
  • Three layers → 21 mm
  • And so on…

Users simply fold (or cut and layer) the pad until the expander sits perfectly level on their specific rack.

Why This Works

  • It instantly eliminates the center gap created by the raised edges.
  • It creates a flat, solid platform for the rack expander.
  • It prevents rocking or flexing.
  • It allows universal compatibility without guessing rack dimensions.

Included in Every Kit

Because we can’t predict which bikes have raised-side racks, the spacer pad will come standard in every Granny Wheels rack expander kit.
